STRONG B.A.N.D.S. – STRONG Balance, Activity, Nutrition, Determination and Strength – promotes healthy, active lifestyles for Army communities. It helps motivate Army Soldiers, Families, Retirees and Civilians to get and stay fit.

Visit your local USAG Bavaria Library (Tower Barracks, B607 and Rose Barracks, B227) each week for a special Strong B.A.N.D.S. display focused:

  • Balance: May 1-7
  • Activity: May 8-14
  • Nutrition: May 15-21
  • Determination: May 22-28
  • Strength: May 29 – June 4

Location of events: Physical Fitness Center - Tower Barracks, B170

May 1 (Balance) - Outdoor Yoga: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Free class offered Sunday afternoon. 

Information on proprioceptive exercises as well as different exercises that can be performed to improve and assess balance:

  • Single leg standing
  • Single leg standing with ball toss
  • Bosu ball
  • Bosu squat

May 10 (Activity) -- Tug of War: 6:40 - 8:30 a.m.
Free Tug of War event: Individuals, teams, squads or units compete against each other

May 17  (Determination) -- 100 Burpee Challenge: 6:40 - 8:30 a.m.

  • Level 5: 12 Minutes
    Not terrible, but you can certainly train some more and up your game!
  • Level 4: 10 to 12 Minutes
    You’re certainly fit, but we both know you can do better! Keep training!
  • Level 3: 8 to 10 Minutes
    Wow! We don’t want to blow up your ego…but, this is pretty impressive!
  • Level 2: 6 to 8 Minutes
    100 burpees in under 8 minutes? Not bad at all, you’re almost THERE!
  • Level 1: Under 6 Minutes
    When you can complete 100 burpees in under 6 minutes – You’re a superhuman!

May 25 (Nutrition) 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Participants choose "ingredients" for a balanced meal. A nutritionist will grade the selection with an explanation. 

May 31 (Strength) One Rep MAX! 9 a.m. - noon
Participants guess their max, perform the exercise and we calculate it:
