Getting Your Baby's Birth Certificate


Bring the following with you to the hospital:
➢ Both parents’ birth certificates
➢ Previous divorce decrees
➢ Current marriage license
➢ If not married: just the birth certificate of the mother
➢ About 30 Euro for 2 or 3 copies of the baby’s German birth certificate

Weiden:  Someone will come to your room and assist you in completing the paperwork. You will probably have to go to room 21.36 to register the baby. Amberg & Sulzbach: The Hospital Liaison or hospital staff will help you complete the required forms necessary to get the birth certificate. Please note: When your pregnancy has been confirmed, the clinic may give you a packet or send you a digital copy of information on prepping for the birth of your child. The patient liaison visits the hospital daily and will also give you information on securing your child’s birth certificate. You will need to schedule an appointment with the passport office (in BLDG 244) to apply for your baby’s passport and certificate of birth abroad. If you miss the liaison’s visit, please call the numbers below:
