Ceramic Hand-Building Class

Get creative in this hand-building ceramics class at the Arts and Crafts Center on Rose Barracks. This course covers hand-building techniques such as: slab rolling, coil building, reductive carving and slipping and scoring. With these new techniques in hand-building, our instructor will guide you as you build both utilitarian objects as well as sculptures. The possibilities are endless!

Class offered on the following Tuesdays: 

  • May 9: 10 a.m. – noon, Gnome Windchimes
  • May 16: 6-8 p.m., Gnome Windchimes
  • May 23: 10 a.m. – noon, Slab Built Cup
  • May 30: 6-8 p.m., Slab Built Cup

Participants receive a card to use equipment during studio hours.

Ceramics Open Studio Hours

  • Monday: 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 1-5:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (when classes ARE NOT being held)
  • Saturdays: 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Cost

$40 per person, per class. Fee includes clay, glazing, firing and instruction.

Registration Information

Register by May 3. Open to U.S. ID card holders 6+ (ages 6-17 need parent present). Adults welcome. 

Class limited to eight participants, must have four at a minimum.
