Fishing Course

Fishing in Germany requires a German fishing license, obtainable via instruction and certification.

With 10 lakes and two streams to choose from, Family and MWR offers some of the most beautiful and relaxing fishing bodies of water in Bavaria. In order to enjoy these prime locations, U.S. personnel are required to obtain a German fishing license. MWR offers this course to our community in English for your convenience and ease of obtaining the required certification. At the completion of this course, many fishing opportunities will be available to you and your families, ranging from local Family and MWR lakes and streams to overnight excursions. Lastly, in this very condensed course, you can expect to learn about German fishing laws, hydrology, equipment & gear, general ichthyology, specialized ichthyology, diseases and much more from our experienced staff of employees and volunteers!

MWR offers fishing courses on a quarterly basis at the Wild B.O.A.R. Outdoor Recreation facility. Upon successful completion of this course - you will be eligible to obtain your German fishing license and enjoy fishing in the beautiful wood lined forests of Grafenwoehr and Vilseck.  

Begins on Friday at 6 p.m., Saturdays & Sundays: 9 a.m. until complete

Location: Wild B.O.A.R. Multi-Purpose Classroom, RC600

**Individual requests/courses can be arranged for groups with a minimum of 10 participants.

Cost
  • Adult: $65
  • Family: $65 for sponsor + $40 for each additional person
  • Youth: (ages 10-18) - $40** Not required for youth license
    Ages 10-17 DO NOT need this course to fish – they can purchase a youth license off-post for €15 and fish with a licensed escort until they turn 18.

Registration is required by the Friday on the start of each class. Open to U.S. ID card holders 18+
