Introduction & Intermediate to Wheel Throwing

Have you ever wanted to learn how to throw on the potter’s wheel? Join us at the Arts and Crafts Center on Rose Barracks for this introductory course on wheel throwing. This course teaches the basics of ceramics while getting you comfortable with using clay as an art form. During this four-week course you will learn about wedging clay, centering on the wheel and different altering techniques while working on the potter’s wheel.

Session Dates (4-week sessions): 

INTRODUCTION TO WHEEL THROWING                                                                                                
March 5, 12, 19 & 26; 6-8:30 p.m. 

INTERMEDIATE WHEEL THROWING                                                                                                       
March 7, 14, 21 & 28; 6-8:30 p.m. 

Participants will receive a card with wheel throwing certification to use the wheels during studio hours.

Ceramics Open Studio Hours:

  • Monday: CLOSED
  • Tuesday: 1-5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: CLOSED
  • Thursday: 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays 10:00am-2:30 p.m.                                                                                                                       ***when classes ARE NOT being held.

Cost

$150 per person, paid in full on first day of class. Fee includes clay, glazing, firing and instruction.

Registration Information

Register by the day prior to class session.  Open to U.S. ID card holders ages 16+ (ages 16-17 need parent present). Class limited to six participants, must have four registered at a minimum.
