Join best-selling author, Constance Squires, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the publication of her debut novel, “Along the Watchtower."
Listen to her journey of becoming a writer, including growing up on Army bases and hear an excerpt of her book, which won the 2012 Oklahoma Book Award for Fiction, and is set in 1980s Grafenwoehr, Germany.
During the closing years of the Cold War, U.S. Army Major Jack Collins defends his country from its foreign enemies, while his headstrong eldest daughter Lucinda must learn to steel herself against the chasms in her family, the strict regiments of life on a base and her growing feelings of displacement and isolation.
A powerful, original story about Army brat Lucinda Collins — a bold, spirited girl who must come face to face with the sacrifices of her military family.
Constance Squires is a Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Central Oklahoma and lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with her husband and daughter.
She has also written “Live from Medicine Park,” and the short story collection, “Hit Your Brights.”
