Watercolor Painting

Learn the basics of watercolor painting!

Knowing how to draw is NOT a pre-requisite for this class!

Start with the basics and work up to more adventurous technics in this five week course. If you have your own paints and brushes you are welcome to use them, though a basic set will be available to use in the class. You are encouraged to bring photo/post card/image of what you would like to paint.

Week 1: introduction to the paints, papers and brushes with students completing a small project.

Week 2: taking an image and making it yours. How to look at and go about making a watercolor.

Week 3: making a watercolor journal and using markers, pencils to sharpen the image, add design elements.

Week 4: mounting paper onto wood to keep paper flat when painting on them. Using salt on wet on wet techniques and the use of a palette knife in images.

Week 5: flexible - finish up projects in progress or start one last painting.
